Relational Care: Transforming ourselves and empowering each other – Agesong, San Francisco

April 12, 2017 - April 13, 2017

Facilitator: Dr Julia Wolfson

Care communities reflect the attitudes and behaviors of a society. For elders as well as care partners, the care relationship is an opportunity to learn and grow with and from each other in becoming our better selves. AgeSong is an amazing wonderland of opportunity to create a welcoming home for everyone involved here. In realizing our AgeSong vision of elders as wisdom keepers, our everyday interactions, tensions and responsibilities are part of the great human project: to learn to get along together as human beings with all our differences, dreams and needs. In this training we will introduce and play with the Phases map, an exciting new process guide developed by Dr. Arnold Mindell – easy to learn and use straight away. The Phases map is a simple way to be true to yourself and responsive to the people and situations to whom you are in service. Anyone can use it – elders of any age – because we are all essentially human – care partners, elders, family members, support staff, and leaders. At this workshop you will be introduced to:

• A quick self-assessment tool to notice where you are on the c u s t o d i a l – r e l a t i o n a l continuum.

• An understanding of phases to help you meet the person where he or she is at in a challenging situation.

• Phases as a relational framework to help you deal with inner and outer tensions. The training facilitator is Dr. Julia Wolfson, a friend of AgeSong. Julia lives in Australia and works internationally with people and organizations to become safer, more relational and inclusive communities to learn and grown in, with purpose, friendship and contribution
