Where, when, who and how to talk about “it”? What to say or not to say? Where do I get help when I don’t know what to do? What is my role in it? How should I react in this or that situation? What about abuse? Boundaries? How do we know what people want, let alone how to help them get it? Will people just get disappointed and hurt if we encourage them to dream? Are we creating unrealistic expectations?
These are some common questions on the minds and hearts of many caring and loving people who want the best for the people they support.
At this webinar we will make a start in opening discussion in this often taboo and emotionally charged area. The webinar will first lay out a few ideas to set the scene and the tone. We will venture into the experience from viewpoints of the person supported, supporters, families, and community attitudes. We will discover some practical tips for an easier, richer and more joyous experience for everyone. Expect it to be informative, challenging and interactive.
The webinar will have a chat function where you can put questions. I will respond to every question after the webinar to the Slack channel #webinarsexuality and send you a copy via email. Teams are encouraged to ask for case work learning hubs for delving deeply into specific stories after the webinar.
